AkelPad

The Windows Notepad tool is very useful when wanting to enter quick text, make a notation or write something that you need to remember later on. Still, the problem with Notepad is that it's very limited in features and functionality and most average computer users won't appreciate this. Besides that, the tool doesn't support plugins or add-ins, like it's the case with MS Word.

Fortunately, there are some alternatives on the market, which manage to offer the same simple functionality of the original Notepad application, but include more features. One such application is AkelPad. This Windows application allows you to write any kind of text in the same manner as using Notepad, but offers a series of new features, like the support for plug-ins.

After the program is installed and launched, the user will be presented with a simple and intuitive interface, which resembles the one of Notepad. By accessing the classical top menu, the user will notice that AkelPad has many new features compared to Notepad. As such, it allows the user to directly insert the system date or a character, using the Character Map application.

What's more, AkelPad allows the user to take advantage of the large number of plug-ins which are included in the application. These plugin-ins extend the program's functionality and allow the user to write text in a more intuitive and efficient way. Unfortunately, there is no option for importing new plugin-ins into the program.
